Ambulatory PlatformThe ambulatory platform is pocket-sized, and includes an air pump, batteries, a disposable liquid nitrogen dioxide (NO2) source and two GeNO cartridges. Each disposable cartridge can generate nitric oxide gas for several days, allowing for long-term chronic use. The ambulatory device holds less than a milliliter of liquid NO2, which is slowly released as gaseous NO2 into an air stream where it is diluted. The diluted mixture then passes through the GeNO cartridges that generate pure nitric oxide at the therapeutic dose directly to the patient via a nasal cannula. Storing NO2 as a liquid eliminates the need for large, heavy gas cylinders and allows continuous delivery of nitric oxide for inhalation therapy through a nasal cannula for extended periods at a time. The system is battery powered, light weight, and is optimized for ambulatory use. The package is designed to make chronic treatment with nitric oxide inhalation therapy viable and affordable. The liquid NO2 source is packaged in combination with two cartridges as a single use disposable unit. The GeNO ambulatory platform is unique and there are no competing platforms or technologies.
